Mariachi Band Music

Following the well-known and much-loved Rookie Books format, these fun and informative books introduce early elementary-school children to the basic facts about major holidays. Each book explains the development of the holiday and how it is celebrated today, and includes holiday games, traditions, crafts, and foods. May 5th is fiesta time and everyone's invited to listen to the Mariachi bands, dance to the music, break pinatas, and eat tasty tamales to commemorate a battle for freedom won in Mexico a long time ago.

Shakti - The acoustic music band - Shakti (meaning creative intelligence) was an acoustic music group widely considered to be the pioneers in fusing the music of the East and West. The group was formed by the legendary British guitar player John McLaughlin, along with the Indian violin player Lakshminarayana Shankar at Wesleyan University, Connecticut in the early 1970s where McLaughlin was studying the vina (an Indian stringed instrument) and Shankar was completing his PhD in ethnomusicology.
